FreeUKGEN is a voluntary organization which has made an enormous contribution to family history research by bringing us FreeBMD for GRO registration indexes, FreeREG for parish register transcriptions and FreeCen for census indexes.
Many of us would have found it difficult to make much progress with our family trees without access to the resources of the LDS Church. The International Genealogical Index (IGI) has long been an essential tool for family historians, but has now been subsumed into the new FamilySearch website along with the Ancestral File, Pedigree Resource File and a growing volume of new vital records from across the world. Search the TNA CatalogueThe National Archives of Ireland has now put online an almost complete set of census returns for all thirty two Irish counties for both 1901 and 1911. It is FREE to search and FREE to download images.
