This site is dedicated to the memory of James "Jim" Maris b. Feb 1909 d. Sep 2002.
Trees last updated: 21 Jul 2008.
Our site covers up to sixteen generations of known ancestors together with numerous descendant branches and now includes information about over eight thousand eight hundred individuals, over two thousand six hundred marriages and over one thousand four hundred surnames. It remains, however, very much a "work in progress".
Our philosophy is to continue development of ancestral lines whilst, at the same time, researching as many descendant lines as possible. In this way, we aim to maximize opportunities to contact new distant cousins and to facilitate sharing of information about common ancestors.
Feedback is welcomed on both content and layout of the site. We are particularly keen to identify and correct any significant errors or ommissions.
There are several ways to access the information published on this site:-
- The Trees Page has name lists and surname indexes for family, pedigree, notes and descendancy pages. The pages are interlinked. Clicking on a name on the pedigree or descendency pages will take you to the relevant family page.
- Ancestral Trails links on the right of this page give access to narrative pages covering a selection of lines where significant progress has been made. Each featured individual has a "clickable" link to the family pages.
- The Site Search feature allows any name or place to be entered.
- Separate pages cover:-
The origins of the Maris surname
The "Royal" line up to King Edward I of England
The Australian Branch
